About the Project
Living in a post-pandemic world has changed the way we interact with our surroundings and technology. With most of our interaction with the world being digitalized, healthcare is no exception.
Dotiv is a healthcare marketplace that connects practitioners and clients seeking traditional, preventive, and complementary care. For practitioners, it's a consultation, marketing and a management tool. For clients, it is a one-stop shop for complementary and alternative medicine.

Context
I worked on this project with a small team where after 4 months of designing and building, we were able to successfully deliver a functional MVP of the app and web solution that is now live.
Goal
Today, anyone can call themselves a CAM provider with no real qualification. Aso, those who are qualified do not have a platform to operate on. Dotiv bridges that gap by modernising the access to complementary care.People are able to connect to their trusted alternative healthcare provider either through video consultation or in person.
What is Complementary Alternative Medicine?
These are medical treatments that fall outside of mainstream conventional healthcare. This includes medicine and treatment ranging from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, and Naturopathy.
The App
Competitive Analysis
Before starting any project, I like to understand the current competition in the market, what they are doing well and no so well.
Doctoralia-
Connects users to their local traditional or alternative healthcare provider either in person or via video consultation.
The UI is clean, welcoming, and professional, the use of flat illustrations has a ‘tech’ feel.
There is a lack of trust around the app as users have said that practitioners can choose reviews they hide.

Medoucine-
A site exclusively for Alternative healthcare providers based in France.
Only a handful of selected practitioners are able to use this service as it is based on proving one's credibility.
The website has a lot of information which felt sightly overwhelming- finding what I was looking for required a bit of digging and the buttons were quite ambiguous, at times I wasn't sure where to go.
The booking system does not appear to be user-friendly, users are redirects to another page without warning.

User Flow Diagram
Prior to joining the team, most of the UX had already been completed. So, I started by mapped out potential user flows and collaborated with my team to get the experience right.

Style Guide
Once the mid-fidelity wireframe was approved by the director and team, the next
step was to figure out how to communicate the brand’s identity through the colour scheme and illustrations.
step was to figure out how to communicate the brand’s identity through the colour scheme and illustrations.
1. Colour Scheme:
Cool colour tones that evoke comfort and calmness. Over 70% of people who have shown an interest in the product have been women. Research shows that women prefer soothing colours like blue and green as it evokes a sense of comfort, order, and calmness. Men on the other hand have a tendency to prefer stronger chromas.

2. Illustrations
Flat simple illustrations were chosen as it has a modern and clean feel.

3. Typography and Icons

Client Platform in High Fidelity
These are the key screens for the Dotiv mobile app. We wanted to avoid creating a clinical feel so we opted for minimal colors.

Demo Video
The next step was to get the app up and running on the app store for the Beta testing. Here is a short demo of the app:
The Website
Challenge
When I moved onto redesigning the website, I had to be mindful that the main function of the website is to educate users on CAM and its benefits. Second, we want to drive people to download the app.
Not many people have heard of CAM, some were familiar with some treatments such as acupuncture but were hesitant to seek out alternative care. Our primary aim was to educate people without bombarding them with too much information.
Solution
As a team, we decided to create infographics to visualise information and videos from practitioners to help build trust and understanding with users.

Challenge
Our second call to action was to encourage people to download the app. To grasp what motivates people we conducted some A/B testing to understan behavioral patterns between men and women. Based on the feedback, I tweaked the design to help drive more people to download the app.
Women: Want to ‘try & test’ before committing to something, in this case downloading the app.
Men: Are quick to make a decision, download the app and test the app and then make a decision.
Solution
Visualise the key features of the product and information so that users stay engaged and intrigued to learn more.

Practitioners Platform in High Fidelity
As I was designing the app, I was mindful of how the client's information will be reflected on the practitioner's platform. Here is a demo video:
Retrospective
Overall, I am proud of the products that I was able to deliver. As a team, we were able to complete the project before the deadline and saw an increase in followers on our social media platforms.
As for myself, I experienced a vast amount of professional growth throughout the process and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Here's what I have taken away from this project:
1. Less is more:
I learned how to resist the temptation of add a lot of features, but stay focused on the core ones, that would be valuable for users. As Dotiv is an MVP, new features will be added and validated in future iterations.
2. When in doubt, ask
I did struggle to get the language right at first and couldn’t pinpoint what was going wrong. I overcame this obstacle by getting a second, third and fourth opinion when it came down to communicating a feature.
3. Keep it organised
I use to overlook organisational skills but as a designer, I understand how crucial it is and how it makes life a little easier. Now I have developed a system to help me keep on top of my files.
